Abdullah bin Zayed calls for settling conflicts among Muslim countries amicably

UAE Foreign Minister underlined that the UAE is so keen to follow up conditions of peoples across the Arab World in terms of provision of humanitarian and developmental support.

He added that upon the directives from President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan the UAE continues to provide humanitarian assistance and developmental aid to a number of Muslim countries.

Sheikh Abdullah underscored that the UAE calls for settling differences and outstanding conflicts among the Muslim countries amicably through dialogue, adding that the UAE looks forward to bolstering the role of Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) in this respect.

The UAE Minister was speaking in the meetings of 37th session of OIC Foreign Ministers in the Tajik Capital, Dushanbe.

He reiterated that the UAE government has been continuing to settle its conflict with Iran, which is occupying the three UAE Islands since 1971, through dialogue and peaceful approaches based on the principles of international law and charter of OIC. "The UAE is still hoping Iran will respond to its repetitive calls to commence dialogue or both resort to International Court of Justice".

Sheikh Abdullah noted that the UAE denounces all forms of terrorism and quashes linking it to teachings of all divine religions and cultures of peoples.

He noted that the competent authorities in the UAE would continue tracking down perpetrators involved in the murder of Palestinian Mohamoud Al Mabhouh in Dubai, describing the murder as a terrorist crime. He called on all the sisterly and friendly countries to cooperate with the UAE in this case.

The UAE Foreign minister said "the UAE is taking tangible steps to support the efforts of international community to develop peaceful uses of nuclear energy and curb proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. It is also seeking to play effective role in the efforts of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) over supporting the right of members to nuclear energy for civil uses".

He described the Arab Peace Initiative as realistic and practical to settle the Palestinian issue in a way that preserves the legitimate national rights of Palestinians to set up their independent sovereign State with Jerusalem (Al Quds) as a capital, as well as return of refugees and withdrawal of Israel from all the occupied Palestinian territories, including occupied Syrian Golan Heights and Lebanese territories.

The OIC Foreign Ministers adopted the UAE statement on the murder of Al Mabhouh in Dubai on Jan. 19. They condemned the act, which is a striking infringement on sovereignty and security of the UAE, as well as norms and international law. The meeting resolved that the criminal terrorist act requires cooperation among the countries and concerned parties with competent authorities in the UAE to tackle and track down this gang to bring them to books in line with the international agreements and laws.

The meeting also ratified the draft resolution submitted by the UAE Foreign ministry to the OIC on the request of the UAE Foreign minister that the OIC would appoint permanent envoy to Afghanistan to boost the OIC regional role there.
